Face ID on the iPhone X replaces Touch ID, which was used on previous models to unlock the smartphone. Even though you can no longer use the fingerprint sensor due to the missing home button, there are alternatives to using Face ID. iPhone X: How to deactivate Face ID

If you do not want to use Face ID on the iPhone X, it is recommended that you deactivate the function. Here, there are two different procedures, depending on whether you want to turn off Face ID only temporarily or permanently.
