Android: Smart Look - Enable Face Recognition

Unlocking your smartphone with just one look sounds tempting to you? Then you should activate the smart look of your Android smartphone with facial recognition! Find out how it works here.

How to enable Face Detection on Android

With Smart Look Face Detection, your phone only needs to see your face and you can access all the apps on your smartphone. The setting of this gadget is thereby very simple:
  1. To begin with, open the Smart Look settings of your smartphone, which are located in the "Security" section.
  2. Following this, select the "Face Recognition" option.
  3. Android will now warn you that unlocking through face recognition is not as secure as entering a PIN or password. Confirm here that you still want to use this variant.
  4. You will now receive instructions so that the facial recognition works optimally. Read them carefully and click "Next".
  5. Hold your smartphone so that your face is enclosed by the green dotted border and wait until the recognition is complete. Click "Next" when done.
  6. Now select "Done". By now looking into the front camera, Android will unlock the lock screen of your smartphone.

The pitfalls

Surely, facial recognition is very convenient, since you do not have to remember a PIN or password. However, you should keep in mind that you must always look similar for the function to run smoothly. In case of illness or other changes, the face recognition may not be able to send positive feedback, which will keep the lock screen up.
