Playing Valheim in German: How to make the switch

Valheim will automatically run in English after installation. This can be handy, as many guide videos are also in this language. If you still want to play in German, we explain how to do it.

English is also the leading world language in gaming. Nevertheless, many players like to fall back on their native language and this is also possible in Valheim.

How to change Valheim to German

Proceed as follows:

1. Click on "Settings" in the start screen.
2. Select "Misc".
3. Set the language there to "German".
4. Close the window with "Ok".
5. Restart the game.

Generally, the conversion of the language is therefore not complicated at all. Only the final step, namely the restart of the game, is often overlooked, because the hint to do so is not too noticeable. Positive: Although Valheim is still in the Early Access stage, the German localization seems to be completed and correct to a large extent.
