iPhone: How to set up an answering machine

Depending on the provider, there are different ways to set up an answering machine on your device. With an iPhone, you can also use Visual Voicemail, which allows you to conveniently set up an answering machine and view and manage a list of all the recordings you have set up.

Using Visual Voicemail on iPhone

Before you can make use of the service, it needs to be activated. This requires a few steps, but is basically quite simple.

1. Take your iPhone and open the Phone app. Select the item "Voicemail" at the bottom left.
2. If you now automatically call your voicemail, the service is not yet activated.
3. As a Telekom customer, send a text message with the text "VVM" to 3011 and wait a moment.
4. For Vodafone, a call must be made to 5500, followed by the numbers "245".
5. O2 customers, in turn, call 333 and enter the number sequence "982".
6. Now you can select "Voicemail" again in the phone app and set a password.
7. Enter the password again to confirm and tap the "Done" button.
8. To set up a greeting for the answering machine, then tap "Greeting" and select "Standard" or "Custom" to create a custom greeting on your mailbox.
