Facebook: Download and Backup Data

If you delete your Facebook account, all data and information will be irrevocably lost. Unless you create a backup copy of the data beforehand - because Facebook provides you with the appropriate function for this.

Facebook: Download data easily possible

Proceed as follows to create and download an archive:

1. Open facebook.com and log in.
2. Click on the down arrow at the very top right of the menu bar.
3. Select "Settings and Privacy" and click on "Settings".
4. You are now in the "General" section. Click "Your Facebook information" in the left column and select "View" next to "Download your information"
5. On the following page, click the checkmarks on the right to select what information you want to add to the file and set other options, such as format or photo quality.
6. Click "Create File" and then go to "Download Your Information" > "Available Copies".
7. Then click "Download" and enter your password to download the data.

During the process, you will also learn what data is included in the copy, such as shared posts, photos, videos and chats. You can then delete your account with a clear conscience, as your data is secured just in case.
