Not least because of smartphones and smart home devices from Amazon, Google and Co. voice input has gained importance. Under the term Voice Search, a new trend is emerging for the future.

What is Voice Search and what are the advantages?

The advantages of search input by voice are manifold:

• For most users, it is first of all a matter of convenience, since the query no longer has to be typed on a keyboard or display.
• Accessibility for people with disabilities is also important, starting with visual impairments and ending with mechanical limitations. Voice Search offers here an easy access to information search.
• Many people are not particularly sure of writing: for them, Voice Search means not to distort the input by typing errors, which leads to more relevant results.

The SEO industry has been preparing for an increase in Voice Search for several years. Since it is faster and more convenient to talk than to write, it is suspected that search queries with complete sentences will increase in the future. Filler words would also become more common in this case, as they are often considered annoying when written. Queries such as "Reinstall Windows 10 PC" would then become, for example, "How do I reinstall Windows on my PC?" As a consequence, search engine optimization would focus more on "long term keywords", i.e. long search terms consisting of several words. Other effects would be that search engines could pick out personal info based on voice, for example gender or age, to adjust search results accordingly.
