These rules apply to video surveillance in schools
Cameras are also increasingly being used in schools for video surveillance. When such video surveillance is permitted is thereby regulated by the respective federal state in which the school is located. Although this may lead to differences between individual states, it is generally true that there must always be a reason for video surveillance.- This is given, for example, if there have been frequent cases of vandalism or theft at the school in the past.
- Here, however, it should be noted that certain areas of the school, such as toilets or locker rooms, may not be monitored.
- In addition, the school must attach a sign indicating to teachers, students and visitors that the school grounds are under video surveillance.
