Oculus Rift: System requirements at a glance

Oculus Rift takes you into virtual reality, giving you a new kind of gaming experience. However, this requires some computing power. We show which system requirements your PC must at least bring along for the use of Oculus Rift.

Oculus Rift requires at least a mid-range PC - but more power won't hurt.

Oculus Rift: System requirements of the VR goggles

Oculus Rift does not only run on high-end PCs, but the computer should not be too weak. This is especially true for gaming applications. These are the minimum requirements:
  • Processor: Intel Core i3-6300 / AMD FX4350
  • Graphics card: GeForce GTX 960 / Radeon 290
  • Memory: 8 GB RAM
  • A compatible DisplayPort video output and at least one USB 3.0 port
For a smooth VR experience, it should be the following components:
  • Processor: Intel Core i5-4590 or AMD Ryzen 3 1200
  • Graphics card: GeForce GTX 1060 / Radeon RX 480
  • Memory: 8 GB RAM
Oculus Rift is compatible with all Windows generations starting with Windows 7 with SP 1. However, since support for Windows 7 has since been discontinued, the recommendation is to use Oculus Rift together with a Windows 10 PC. If these requirements are met, you can experience games like Fallout 4 VR from an impressive new perspective.
