iPhone: Change keyboard - how to write faster

On the iPhone and iPad a keyboard is preset. However, this is not final and can be customized. Since iOS 8, you can even download an alternative keyboard from the App Store. You can access this from the default keyboard. The installation is quite simple.

How can you change the keyboard on the iPhone?

To use a new keyboard layout, a few steps are necessary.

1. First, you need to change your settings. Open them by tapping on the corresponding app icon. It is marked by a gray gear.
2. Go on to "Keyboard" > "Keyboards" > "Add Keyboard...".
3. Here, select a keyboard you downloaded from the App Store and give it the appropriate permissions.
4. Now you can select the keyboard at any time in your normal keyboard.
5. Open an app where you use the keyboard, for example WhatsApp, and go into a chat to write something.
6. Now tap the globe icon in the bottom left and select the keyboard you set.
7. If you want to change a keyboard to one-handed mode, which was introduced in iOS 11, then tap the globe again and select the keyboard icon in the bottom right. Now you should find it easier to use the keyboard and type with one hand.
