Excel: Create dropdown - how to create a selection
It may be necessary to create a dropdown button in Excel. This is the case if, for example, you want to allow a selection to have a certain impact on the document. Or if you want to create a questionnaire that has only certain answer choices for a question.
How to create a dropdown menu in Excel?
Creating a dropdown list in Excel is worthwhile if, for example, you have a catalog of questions and there should only be certain answer options to the questions. To create such a list is very simple.- First mark the field that should later be the selection field.
- Select the "Data check" at the top of the tab "Data" and in this then the "Settings".
- From the options select the list and then enter the options you want to offer under "Source". Be sure to change each option with a semicolon.
- Now just confirm the process with "OK" and you have a finished selection. With a click on the field, you can now choose between the different options.
- If you do not want to enter the sources by hand and already have a list of choices, click next to the input line of "Source" on the small icon with the arrow. Now select the cells that will serve as a template for the choices.
