Android: Smart Look - Enable Wear Detection

If you move around a lot during work or personal life, it can be annoying to have to unlock your smartphone over and over again. As an Android user, you now have the advantage of being able to easily fix this problem by setting wearable detection.

How to enable wear detection

Wear detection is a convenient service offered by Android that you can set up with just a few clicks.
  1. First, open your smartphone's settings and select the "Security" section.
  2. Following this, click on the Smart Look settings.
  3. There, select the "Wear Detection" option and press the switch at the top right. This will now set to "On".
  4. This ensures that your smartphone remains permanently unlocked as long as you are in motion. As soon as you put the device out of your hand, the smartphone will lock itself as usual.

The issue behind the option

Generally, the wear detection is very beneficial and ensures that videos can be watched without any problems while walking. It also allows other applications to be used comfortably while the smartphone is in your hand. However, this downgrades the security of your smartphone. If another person takes away or steals your smartphone, they can directly access your data. You should be especially careful if you have an insurance policy for your smartphone. Read the policy carefully. Some insurance policies exclude liability if a Smart Look solution is used to secure the smartphone.
