Link Excel with PowerPoint - how to do it

To present work results via PowerPoint that you have created in Excel, the program itself does not offer an appealing option. In order to raise your presentation to a professional level anyway, we will show you how to couple the two programs. This way, you can easily incorporate the results from Excel into your presentation.

How the symbiosis of the programs works

For the connection to work, it is necessary that both programs are active and you know where the desired spreadsheets from Excel.html are located. After that you can start:
  1. Open your presentation in PowerPoint and click on the "Insert" tab. A drop-down menu will now open, where you click on the "Text" item.
  2. After that, you will see another dialog box where you click on "Insert Object".
  3. Now specify "Create from File" and go to the "Browse" button. The file explorer will open.
  4. Select the appropriate Excel file that you want to insert into the presentation. Now specify whether you want to anchor the file as a permanent part of the PowerPoint presentation or whether you just want to create a link.

Which variant makes the most sense?

Select that you only want a link between Excel and PowerPoint, then the file remains small and takes up little memory. However, the Excel file must always be on the same storage medium as the presentation in order to open it. Embedding creates a symbiosis and you have the presentation completely available at any time. But: the file is separated from the Excel folder, which means that there are no updates. Also, the file takes up a large amount of memory.
