Switching Ubuntu to German - how to do it

How to change the language in Ubuntu to German

If you installed Ubuntu in English during setup, it is still possible to change the language to German afterwards. To do this, you will need the German language pack, which you can download by opening the "Language Support" program, going to "Install/Remove Languages..." in the "Language" tab, and checking "German" before clicking "Apply".
  1. Once you have downloaded the German language pack for Ubuntu, please go to the "Regional Formats" tab and select "Deutsch (Germany)" from the drop-down menu.
  2. Then click on "Apply System-Wide" and confirm the change by entering your password.
  3. Next, open the settings of Ubuntu and go to the "Region & Language" section in them.
  4. Select "German" and "Germany" under "Language", "Formats" and "Input Sources" respectively and reboot your Ubuntu PC by first clicking "Restart..." and then "Logout".

Ubuntu: Switch the keyboard to German
