Windows 7: Installing via USB stick

Sometimes it may be necessary to install Windows 7 on the PC, for example to play an old game. It is not difficult to install the Windows 7 operating system from a USB stick. However, be aware that Microsoft no longer supports this version.

How to install Windows 7 from a USB stick

Windows 7 is a somewhat aging operating system, but you still need it to play old games or use old software. In a few simple steps you can install Windows 7 with a USB stick. To do this, do the following:
  1. Place the Windows 7 DVD in your drive. Start a disk burn program, for example IMgBurn, and create an image of your installation disc.
  2. Now connect the USB stick on which you want to save the Windows 7 installation file.
  3. Use the USB Installer to copy the image to the USB stick.
  4. Now you can install Windows 7 on your PC. To do this, plug the USB stick into your PC and boot it.
  5. Now press your boot menu button, which you can find in the manual of your motherboard.
  6. Select your USB stick in the list of bootable hard drives. Now the Windows installation will start. Do not,t forget to remove the USB stick again once the installation is finished.
