Minecraft Updates for Consoles: What you should know

Minecraft is perhaps the biggest gaming sensation of the last decade. The survival adventure has a cult following and runs like a true perennial favorite. For those who play on an older console, however, there is bad news regarding future updates.

The Aquatic update was the last Minecraft update for certain consoles.

Especially in online gaming, updates are very important, as bugs are weeded out and new features are added. Minecraft is no different - but some consoles will be looking into the void in the future.

Minecraft: Update in the future only for current platforms

The Aquatic update was long awaited and appeared in the spring of 2018. Directly to this, however, there was the message that this update for older consoles will have been the last. These are the following consoles:
  • Xbox 360
  • PlayStation 3
  • PlayStation Vita
  • Nintendo Wii U
Playable remains the game of course, but at the latest when the next big update for Xbox One and Co. appears, this is of course a downer for owners of the older versions.Minecraft: Perform updates on newer consoles If you have a newer console, such as the PlayStation 4 or Xbox One, for which there are still new updates for Minecraft, these are executed via the menu. To do this, on the Xbox One, go to "My Apps & Games" > "Minecraft" > "More Options" > "Manage Game & Add-ons" and click "Updates". On PS4, on the other hand, you can find updates by opening the game options and selecting "Check for updates".
