Google Discover: Dark Mode - how to activate the mode

Through Google Discover (formerly Google Feed), you as an Android user receive automatically compiled news on your smartphone. In addition to content personalization options, you also have the option to visually change something about the news feed. For example, if the default white theme is too bright for you, switch to Dark Mode.

Enabling Dark Mode - how to do it

To date, Google Discover has only been integrated into the homescreen of some smartphones. If you still want to use the feature, you must first install the Pixel Launcher.Follow these steps to activate the dark mode:
  1. After you have installed the Pixel Launcher, you must select a dark wallpaper.
  2. To do this, press your finger on an empty space on your homescreen until the option to change wallpaper appears.
  3. Select the lock screen and the homescreen.
  4. Set a dark image as the new background. Make sure that it is a static image, with live wallpapers there may be problems.
Now switch to the Google Discover screen, the Dark Mode is active.

Discover Dark Mode on a Google Pixel smartphone

If you have a Google Pixel smartphone, the activation of the Dark Mode turns out to be a lot easier. For example, it is enough to select a dark background image, and the mode will be activated automatically. Regardless of that, you can activate the mode via the settings. The corresponding option for this can be found in the "Developer Options" and the advanced display settings.
