VLC: Silent install - this is how the method works

In addition to the classic method of setting up the VLC Media Player using the installation file and the installation wizard, there is also the possibility of a silent install. In this case, the program is installed via the command prompt. How this works and what preparations are necessary, we explain here.

VLC Media Player: These prerequisites are necessary for a silent install

In order to install the VLC Media Player quickly and without intervention during the installation process on your PC or laptop, the installation via Silent Install is possible. However, for this to work, some preliminary work is necessary.

1. So, first of all, it is necessary to download the installation file for VLC Player from the Internet for free and save it on your PC or laptop.
2. After that, please open the Run dialog by pressing the key combination of "Windows key" + "R" and enter the command "cmd" there to open the command prompt.

How Silent Install works for VLC Media Player

Once you have opened the command prompt, please enter the location of the VLC installation file here using the command "cd". Once you have specified the location, next type the name of the file. Be sure to include both the full name of the file and the file extension. Finally, add a space followed by the command "L=1031/S" before confirming with "Enter". The VLC Media Player is then installed in the German version and is immediately usable.
