LaTeX: Inserting special characters - how it works

LaTeX is considered a special and almost revolutionary word processor. Conventional actions and methods for formatting and creating a document are replaced by commands and code in LaTeX. This may seem complicated at first glance, but it makes a lot of work easier.

This is what you need to display special characters

In order to insert special characters into your text, you need to insert very specific code into the appropriate place in the text.

1. For example, you insert a backslash [\] by using the command [\textbackslash] or also [\backslash].
2. Curly braces are created similarly. Use the command [\{...\}]. Replace the ellipsis with the text that should be inside the curly braces.
3. To represent special characters such as a hash or an ampersand, you must precede the corresponding character with a [\]. The same principle can also be used to create an underscore.
4. Omission points you add by [\dots]. Die Ergänzung durch ein vorangehendes „v“ zu [\vdots] lässt die Punkte vertikal angeordnet erscheinen.

Sind Buchstaben aus anderen Sprachen ebenfalls möglich?

1. Mithilfe von LaTeX und dem entsprechenden Befehl sind auch besondere Zeichen darstellbar.
2. So können Sie beispielsweise durch [\ae] ein [æ] darstellen.
3. Auch ein durchgestrichenes „O“ oder auch ein Durchschnittszeichen wird durch [\o] eingefügt.
4. Die jeweiligen Zeichen können auch groß dargestellt werden, indem die Buchstaben aus dem Befehl ebenfalls großgeschrieben werden.
