If you want to play the 2016 re-release of DOOM on your computer, you will need solid hardware. Especially on maximum graphics settings, DOOM is still a real eye-catcher today. In order for the shooter to run smoothly, it is important that your system meets the minimum system requirements.

To run DOOM on your computer at all, you actually don't need high-end hardware - on the contrary, the game is quite frugal by today's standards when it comes to hardware hunger.Officially, the developer of the software gives these specifications as the minimum system requirements:
  • Windows 7, 8.1 or 10 (64-bit version)
  • Intel Core i5-2400 or an AMD FX-8320
  • 8.0 gigabytes of RAM and at least 55 gigabytes of free hard drive space
  • an NVIDIA GTX 970 with 2.0 gigabytes of VRAM (video RAM) or an AMD Radeon 7890 with also 2,0 gigabytes of VRAM

In order to enjoy the shooter at maximum settings, the following specifications are recommended:
  • Windows 7, 8.1 or 10 (64-bit)
  • Intel Core i7-3770 or an AMD FX-8350
  • 8.0 gigabytes of RAM as well as 55 gigabytes of free hard drive space
  • an NVIDIA GTX 970 with 4.0 gigabytes of VRAM or an AMD R9 290 with 4.0 gigabytes of VRAM
Even if you purchased DOOM as a boxed version with a disc, activation via Steam is required. Furthermore, before you can start playing, you also have to go through a 45 gigabyte download. After that, the game will be up to date. Also, make sure that your graphics drivers are up to date to prevent problems.
