The world is in app fever - and Clubhouse is at the center of it. The app, which was released back in mid-2020, didn't really take off until after the new year. We explain how it works.

What is Clubhouse and how does it work?

Clubhouse is an app that allows people to talk to each other in virtual rooms.

• For this purpose, any user can simply create a room. This can be joined by other people.
• This results in discussion groups on any topic. So there are with Clubhouse right lectures, but also pitches of self-employed or just rounds of talks among friends. Celebrities and politicians have already discovered the audio platform for themselves.
• Clubhouse relies exclusively on conversations without video transmission. A camera is therefore not necessary.
• It is important to know that Clubhouse can only be entered by invitation of an existing user. Before that, the app download and the account creation are already possible, but the active participation is not.
• While Clubhouse requires the entry of a clear name.

Clubhouse is thus another form of social media, as the app helps to connect people. With its special focus on conversations, however, Clubhouse stands out from other networks and could thus secure a permanent place in everyday online life.So far, the app is only available for Apple devices, but an Android version has since been announced.
