NEFZ vs. EPA difference - everything important in the overview
In connection with electric cars, you have certainly heard the abbreviations NEDC (New European Driving Cycle) and EPA (Enviromental Protection Agenecy). These are test procedures to find out as realistically as possible the consumption of electric vehicles and other passenger cars.
NEFZ and EPA at a glance
The NEDC driving cycle introduced in the European Union in 1992 is used to determine the consumption and CO² emissions of passenger cars. However, the test cycle ignores important factors such as air conditioning, heating and optional equipment. For this reason, the NEDC cycle is considered inaccurate. In addition, the test takes place in the laboratory and not in real road traffic.- The test distance is eleven kilometers.
- A test cycle lasts 20 minutes and is divided into 13 minutes of simulated city driving and 7 minutes of simulated interurban driving.
- Die Höchstgeschwindigkeit im Test liegt bei 120 km/h.
- Es werden Temperaturen von 20 Grad bis – 30 Grad Celsius getestet.
