Valheim: How to fish - and how to get the fishing rod

Even for Vikings, fishing is quite difficult without the appropriate tools. Consequently, to fish in Valheim, you need a fishing rod. We explain where to get one.

Hunting for Vikings: In Valheim you can spend pleasant hours fishing.

In Valheim there is no lack of waters and they are quite busy. To benefit from this, the appropriate equipment is necessary.

Valheim: Fishing made easy - but only with fishing rod

The fishing rod, however, you will not find in your crafting options.

• The only way to get them is to buy them from Haldor the NPC trader.
• The price is 350 coins.
• In addition, you need bait. These are also available from Haldor in a pack of 50 for 10 coins.

The fishing itself is not complicated in the sequence:

1. Lay the fishing rod in the quick bar and equip it.
2. Stand on the shore of a body of water and cast the fishing rod.
3. If a fish has bitten, reel in the fishing rod using the right mouse button.

Important: When reeling in condition is consumed. This means it matters how far you have cast the hook and how good your condition is. Both factors affect how successful your fishing sessions are.
