Google Stadia finally compatible with iOS - all info

Google and Apple are bitter rivals. In this respect, it came as no surprise that Google's Stadia gaming cloud was initially incompatible with iOS devices. However, this has since changed.

Safari makes it possible: Stadia now also runs on Apple's iOS devices.

iOS users had to be patient for over a year until Google Stadia was also unlocked for their platform. In mid-December 2020, the time had finally come.

This is how Google Stadia runs on iPhone and Co.

The reason for the long delay was that Google and Apple could not agree on details such as the terms of use of the app. Finally, this still does not seem to be resolved, yet Stadia now runs on iOS:
  • There has been a Stadia app for iOS for quite some time. However, this can still only be used for account management, but not for playing.
  • For this, a detour via Apple's Safari browser is necessary. In this Stadia is launched as an application, subsequently the full gaming experience is possible.
  • The web application appears as a Safari bookmark on the homescreen of the iPhone or iPad and can therefore be handled very similarly to a real app.
But since, according to Google, this is a test run in the form of a beta, it may happen that some features are not available or do not work as desired. Still, it's a big and important step that Stadia and iOS have now officially come together.
