Lifetime of QLED - this is how long the technology lasts

QLED is a technology that was largely developed or further developed by Samsung. The company already holds several patents. QLED takes advantage of the fact that quantum dot nanocrystals have the property of separating certain color frequencies. But this also limits the lifespan of the device.

This is the lifetime of QLED

QLEDs, or quantum dot light-emitting diodes, are electro-optical semiconductor devices. These, in turn, contain quantum dots that are used to convert electrical energy into light of different frequencies. This technology makes colors more intense, provides better contrast, and allows more detail to be displayed. However, as with other new technologies, the lifespan of QLED devices is limited.
  1. In contrast to the competing technology OLED, which is also currently installed in many televisions, QLED has a much longer lifespan. This is due to the fact that OLED can also be affected by external influences such as UV radiation or oxygen.
  2. If you opt for a high-end device, the life of the TV is up to 100,000 hours.
  3. In common devices, this figure is usually not achieved. However, a lifetime between 60,000 and 100,000 is still possible.
  4. Also ordinary LED TVs offer this lifetime. For this reason, this feature makes little difference when buying.
  5. At the moment, there are mainly Samsung TVs with this technology. Whether the service life can still be extended, only time will tell. However, an average of 80,000 hours are usually sufficient.
