Telegram: Disadvantages - these are the weak points

Telegram is a messenger service with which you can chat with friends and family and also exchange information with many other users via channels and groups. At the same time, the app advertises anonymity and a high-quality security concept.

These are the disadvantages of Telegram

Telegram is now enjoying increasing popularity. This is mainly due to the fact that the app entices with security and anonymity and has numerous features that seem particularly attractive at first glance. One more reason to check what the disadvantages and weaknesses of the service are and whether it is worth using the app.
  • The first major disadvantage of Telegram is the fact that the standard chats are not encrypted end-to-end. This encryption can only be used if it is set separately for each chat. Otherwise, it is possible for both the provider and hackers to access the content of your chats.
  • In addition, it is written in the privacy policy that cloud chats are screened to prevent phishing or spam. This also gives Telegram access to all your messages.
  • Furthermore, the app accesses your metadata and phone book. Thus, Telegram can store movement profiles, for example, and see with which devices you were online there and when.
  • Another disadvantage of the platform is that many radical groups of people cavort there. So Nazis, conspiracy theorists and quite a few other groups get enough space to spread your ideologies. This is not really stopped.
  • In addition, Telegram is not transparent in this regard, so that no one receives insights or answers regarding various topics.
  • If you join a channel or a group, then this information is also always evaluated and is public at the same time.
