Blocking WLAN for certain devices - how it works
If you want to block Internet access for certain devices in your WLAN network, this works via the router settings. There you usually have the option to create a corresponding filter. This allows you to set specific rules and filter network access.
Restricting network access
You can use a MAC address filter to deny unregistered devices access to your network. The MAC address is a unique address used to uniquely identify devices on a network. To enable the filter function on a FritzBox router, follow these steps:- Use the browser to call up the user interface of your FritzBox and log in with your user data if necessary.
- Click on the left in the navigation on the menu item "WLAN" and there on the sub-item "Security".
- In the section "Restrict WLAN access" you will find the option "Restrict WLAN access to the known WLAN devices", which you activate.
- Finally click on "Apply" to save the changes made.
Allow devices to access: How to add new WLAN devices
If the MAC address filter is active, you must approve new devices in the router before you can access the network.- Return to the user interface of your FritzBox and navigate to the category "Restrict WLAN access".
- Click there on the option "Add WLAN device" and enter the MAC address of the device.
- To save the entry, click on "OK" and finally on "Apply".
