In order to install a new operating system on your computer, a data medium such as a CD is usually required. If you want to install Windows 8 or 8.1 on the PC, you can also install the operating system without a CD via a download tool from Microsoft.

How to install Windows 8 and 8.1 without CD

With the appropriate ISO file, it is possible to install Windows 8 and 8.1 without CD. To be able to activate the operating system during installation, you need a valid product key.
  1. First download the Windows 8 or 8.1 ISO file.
  2. Next, you need a USB stick with at least 4 GB of free space.
  3. Now download a tool that allows you to create a bootable USB stick. For this, for example, Rufus is suitable.
  4. Start the application. Select at the top of "Device" the USB stick.
  5. In "Boot selection" then select the previously downloaded ISO file.
  6. In "Partition Scheme" select "MBR" and in "Target System" "BIOS or UEFI".
  7. Under "Format Options" you do not need to make any further changes.
  8. Klicken Sie schließlich auf „START“, um einen bootfähigen USB-Stick zu erstellen.
