Finding out the IP address on Mac OS X

As soon as you connect your PC to a router, it is assigned an IP address so that it can be uniquely identified. You will get such an address in every network you connect to. If you want to know your IP address, there are several ways to find it out in Mac OS X.

How to find out your IP address on Mac OS X

There are several ways to find out your IP address on Mac OS X.
  1. Hold down the Alt key and click on the WLAN icon in the top right corner of the menu bar. Now you can see your IP address under "Disconnect from "...".
  2. Of course, you can also find out your IP address in the System Preferences.
  3. To do this, click on the Apple icon in the top bar and then continue to "System Preferences" > "Network".
  4. Now a window opens in which all connection types are listed. Select your current connection. On the right side you can see your IP address.
  5. Of course, the whole thing also works via the terminal. Open a terminal by using the Spotlights search (Command + Spacebar) and enter "Terminal".
  6. Now enter the command "ifconif". Hinter dem Ausdruck „inet“ wird nun Ihre IP-Adresse angezeigt. Mit dem Befehl „ifconifg en0“ können Sie sich eine kleinere Version der Information anzeigen lassen, die übersichtlicher ist.
