iPad battery saving - the best tricks at a glance

The iPad is a useful companion especially on the go, at least as long as the battery lasts. To maximize the tablet's battery life, there are a few settings and tricks you can use to kill the power hogs.

How to maximize your iPad's battery life

To optimize your iPad's battery life, there are a few tricks you can use.
  1. Disable dynamic wallpapers. Moving wallpapers consume significantly more battery life compared to static images.
  2. Exit unused apps that are still open in the background. Even if the apps are inactive, they still continue to consume power. To view all open apps, double press the home button. There, select the apps that you do not use and quit them by swiping upwards over the tile.
  3. Turn off the location service. This is often used by apps in the background to query your location.
  4. While background updates and automatic downloads are handy because they conveniently keep your apps and the system up to date, they are also real battery killers. The same goes for push services.

The display is a real power hog

The screen consumes the most power. To reduce the consumption of the display, you can adjust the brightness. This works either via the quick settings, which you call up via swipe gesture (from the bottom of the screen to the top), or via the settings. In the settings you can also activate the option "Auto-Brightness", it automatically regulates the brightness of the screen and thus saves the battery.
