Word: Shrink header - how to do it

When you activate the header in Word, by default it has a size and a distance to each margin. In short, it is already basically formatted. However, if you wish, you can reduce the size of the header in Word.

How to reduce the size of the header in Word

First, activate the header in Word. Only after a header has been set up is its editing also possible.
  1. Now double-click on your header. This will put it in active mode, in which it can be filled with content and edited.
  2. Now you can also activate the ruler under "View". Then click in the header, you will see a ruler on the left, whose marker you can move on the header to change the size of the area. The area will stand out in color on the ruler so you can distinguish between the header and the main body of the document.
  3. To do this, all you have to do is hold down the left mouse button on the ruler and then move it. Move it up to make the header smaller.

Are there alternatives to editing?

You can additionally resize it using the "Header and Footer" tab.
