What is Amazon Luna? We introduce the new gaming cloud

It has long been suspected that Amazon will not miss the trend called cloud gaming. Meanwhile, there is clarity and this listens to the name Luna. We introduce.

Now also Amazon: Luna is the cloud gaming service of the shopping giant.

The previous clouds are all based on a similar principle, but in detail there are important differences when it comes to the framework. With Luna, Amazon is also creating its own rules.

Amazon Luna: How the gaming cloud works

To play in the Luna cloud, you need a subscription. Here you have a choice:
  • With Luna+, there is a separate subscription to the Amazon Cloud for $5.99 per month. This allows you to play the titles included there indefinitely, currently, for example, games like GRID and Metro Exodus are already available.
  • Also compatible is Luna with Ubisoft+. The subscription costs $14.99 (respectively Euro) per month, but currently includes many more titles and can also be used with Google Stadia and completely without cloud on the PC.
  • Currently, Luna is still in the Early Access phase and is only available in the US. This is done by invitation. So far, a maximum resolution of 1080p (at 60 FPS) is possible; 4K, however, has already been announced.
  • With Luna+, playing on two devices at the same time is possible.
  • Specially for Luna, a dedicated controller has also been developed.
Overall, Luna means exciting omens for 2021, as the cloud gaming market is currently making great leaps forward. A final release of Luna - and then also worldwide - is thus quite conceivable for next year and would provide further momentum. The English-language home page with all the info can be found at amazon.com/luna.
