How to export your PowerPoint presentation as a video

Once you have created your slides and set up all the elements such as display duration, animations and comments, you can save the presentation as a video. This works in PowerPoint using the export function.
  1. First save the presentation in the normal PowerPoint presentation format PPTX.
  2. Then click on "File" and select the "Export" menu item.
  3. Select the "Create Video" function. Alternatively, you can also click the "Export as Video" function in the "Recording" tab.
  4. Set the desired video quality using the drop-down menu. Note that the quality affects the file size.
  5. Select whether to use recorded timings and comments via the second drop-down menu.
  6. Click "Create Video".
  7. Navigate to the desired location and specify a file name.
  8. Select either "MPEG4 Video" or "Windows Media Video" as the file format and finally click "Save".

In addition to exporting as a video, you can also save your PowerPoint file so that it opens directly in presentation mode instead of edit mode.
  1. Click "File" and then click "Save As".
  2. Navigate to the save location and specify a file name.
  3. Select the PowerPoint slide show (*.ppsx) file type from the drop-down menu and click "Save".
