PowerPoint does not save - this is how you can remedy the situation
If you want to save a file in PowerPoint but only receive an error message, this can be triggered by write protection or faulty add-ins, for example. In most cases, however, the problem can be solved with just a few simple steps.
Problems saving PowerPoint files
If a file cannot be saved in PowerPoint, this may be related to faulty add-ins. Via the settings of PowerPoint you can disable all plug-ins.- Open PowerPoint and click on "File" and then on "Options".
- Click in the settings on the menu item "Add-Ins".
- Select via the drop-down menu at "Manage" the option "COM-Add-Ins" and click on "Go...".
- You will now get an overview of the installed add-ins. Remove all set check marks and then click "OK" to turn off the add-ins.
Unprotect a file
Another cause for a file not being able to be saved is possibly the write protection. If you open a read-only file in PowerPoint, you will usually get a notification below the ribbon that editing is disabled. However, within the notification you will also find the "Edit anyway" button. If you click this, the write-protection will be removed. Alternatively, you can adjust the write protection in the file settings of PowerPoint.- Open the presentation in PowerPoint.
- Click on "File" and then on "Information". There, under the menu item "Protect presentation", you will find all the appropriate options to adjust or completely remove the write protection.
