Disable Avira Software Updater - how to do it

The Avira Software Updater automatically keeps your software, programs and drivers up to date. If you want to perform the updates manually, you have to deactivate the auto-update function. Find out how to disable the automatic update function and what you need to keep in mind.

Turn off automatic updates with Avira

To ensure that your system is always well protected against malware, it is not only important to use protection software, but also to keep drivers, programs and software up to date. This is the only way to close potential bugs and security gaps.Automatic drivers and software updates are only available in the Pro version of Avira Software Updater. If you own the free version, you have to check for updates manually.
  1. Start the Avira Software Updater.
  2. Click on the gear icon at the bottom left of the main window to call up the settings.
  3. Call up the "Automatic updates" item via the overview and select the "Do not update programs" option.
Alternatively, you can also set that only selected programs are automatically provided with updates. You still have to update non-selected applications and drivers manually.

Pending updates

If you receive the message that there are pending updates, this means nothing more than that the respective manufacturers have announced an update to Avira. When the updates will finally appear then also depends on the manufacturers.
