Disable Avira browser protection - how it works

Avira browser protection is designed to protect you from third-party access and threatening websites. However, in many cases, it blocks websites that pose no threat whatsoever and affect your browsing experience. You can learn how to disable automatic protection here.

Disabling Avira browser protection: How to do it in Firefox

Avira's browser protection is an extension. This means that it is installed separately as software to your browser and can also be removed again.
  1. Start Firefox and click directly on the top right menu button.
  2. In the new context menu you will find the item "Add-Ons".
  3. Once you have clicked on it, select "Extensions" in the following.
  4. You will now see a list of all installed extensions in your browser.
  5. Scroll through the list and search for "Avira".
  6. You can either remove or temporarily disable the add-on.

Avira browser protection: How to remove it from Chrome

  1. In Google Chrome, browser protection is also just an extension.
  2. To access the list of all extensions currently installed in the browser, type [chrome://extensions/] in the address bar and confirm with [Enter].
