Enable Avira browser protection - how to use the protection

With the free version of Avira Antivirus, you can protect your system from malware and attacks from the web. If you book the paid Pro version of the antivirus, you also get web protection in addition to the basic protection.

How to activate Avira browser protection on your system

You can activate Avira Antivirus Pro browser protection in various ways. The easiest way to activate it is via the user interface of the antivirus software.

1. Click on the Avira icon in the taskbar and call up the user interface of Antivirus Pro.
2. Click on "Modules" in the navigation on the left and select the "Web Protection" menu item.
3. Activate the slider so that it is set to "ON".

Enable Avira via the Control Panel

Alternatively, you can also turn on browser protection via the Windows Control Panel, follow these steps to do so:

1. Open the Start menu and click the gear icon.
2. Click on "Apps" in the overview.
3. Enter "Avira Antivirus Pro" in the search field and select the corresponding entry with a left click.
4. Click on the "Change" function to start the Avira installation wizard.
5. Select the option "Change program" and click "Next".
6. In the component selection, check "Web protection" and click "Next" again.
7. Finally, click "Finish". Your computer will then reboot so that the protection is active.

In addition to the web protection of the Pro version, Avira also offers a free browser protection addon. You can add the extension either via the Avira website or via the addon management of your browser.
