How to export your iTunes library to an external hard drive
Over time, your iTunes library accumulates a large number of songs that take up valuable storage space. Therefore, to free up space on your computer hard drive, it is a good idea to move your iTunes library to an external hard drive.- The quickest way to do this is to launch iTunes, go to "Preferences" > "Advanced" and enable the options "Keep iTunes media folder arrangement" and "Copy files to iTunes media folder when adding to library".
- In the advanced settings, then click "Change", select the external hard drive as the new location and confirm with "OK".
- Now still navigate to "Library" > "Organize library" and check "Consolidate files".
- Your iTunes library will then be moved to the external hard drive and new content will automatically be stored there.
