Netflix: data volume on Android - what you should know
Netflix is one of the largest and most popular streaming services in the world. Thereby, you can watch series and movies on almost all your devices. If you want to enjoy a movie on your Android smartphone, however, the question arises as to how much your data volume will be burdened with it.
How much data volume does Netflix require on Android?
When asking how much data volume Netflix requires on Android, it's all about the quality you watch in. Movies with a high resolution require more data than movies with a low resolution when streaming via Netflix.- If the movie or series you are watching is of low quality, the data consumption is around 300 Mbytes per hour. So you can stream with a gigabyte of data volume a little more than three hours.
- About an hour and twenty minutes you can stream with 1 GB data volume at medium quality, as Netflix here consumes about 700 Mbyte per hour.
- For an HD stream, about 3 gigabytes per hour are needed. So you have to be careful not to use up your entire data volume for a single movie.
- For Ultra HD, circa 7 gigabytes per hour are needed. If you have an unlimited data contract, the data load should not be a problem. Otherwise, it is not advisable to enjoy a UHD movie via mobile Internet.
- You can specify which quality should be streamed via the playback settings in the Netflix app. Generally, the lowest quality is sufficient for a smartphone, since the screen is rather small.
