Alexa: Create shopping list - how it works

Alexa likes to assist you in your everyday life. For example, Amazon's AI makes sure you don't forget anything when you go shopping. But to do this, you first need to create a shopping list. To fill it with items or retrieve it, various Alexa commands are available for you to use at any time.

Alexa is proving to be a handy shopping helper both online and offline.

How to create an Alexa shopping list

Shopping lists are now firmly integrated into the Alexa app. So you don't have to activate an extra skill to be able to create a shopping list. However, commands are also available to help you manage them easily.
  1. Open the Alexa app and tap the menu icon in the top left corner.
  2. Tap "Lists".
  3. Here you can navigate to the desired list at the top or create a new list.
  4. Use the plus icon to add items to the list. Once you have something done or purchased, you can tap on the box on the left. Then it will be checked off.
  5. Alternatively, this process is possible via voice commands. Say, for example, "Alexa, add milk to my list," and this item will be added automatically. Similarly intuitive, this is also done for removing items or creating a new list.
In this way, you can note as many other items as you like. These appear afterwards as a list with a checkbox in front of the entry. So while shopping, you can simply check a box as soon as you put the item in the shopping cart. By tapping on an entry, further options appear. So you can let Alexa search for the product on Amazon or delete the entry completely.
