If your device no longer delivers the technical performance you want, then you don't necessarily have to invest in a new one. A good solution can be to optimize the processor to get the performance you want. But for that, you need to know which processor generation you are currently working with.
How to find out the generation of your processor
There are several ways you can find out which processor was installed in your device. Here's how to do it:- Press the Windows key on your keyboard and select System Information. There you will get all the information that is stored about your processor. Write out the number.
- If you are using a Linux PC, enter the following command: lscupu / grep "Model name". Subsequently, you will get the number of your processor.
- On a macOS device, you need to open the Terminal app and enter the command sysctl -a / grep machdep.cpu.brand_string there. Afterwards, the version is displayed.
- The first number that is displayed after the hyphen ensures that you can identify the generation. Because this stands for the installed generation.
