Sky Ticket: Possible resolutions and bandwidth at a glance

4K resolution is no longer a rarity for both end devices and streaming providers. Nevertheless, it is far from being available with all products. We clarify how it looks with Sky Ticket.

1080p as a maximum: 4K streaming is not yet possible with Sky Ticket.

Sky Ticket is the preferred choice of viewers who want to access Sky programming exclusively via the Internet. The resolution can be a criterion here.

Sky Ticket: These resolutions are available - and these are the required bandwidths

With streams via Sky Ticket, 4K resolution is not yet possible.
  • The maximum is currently 1080p.
  • For this, a bandwidth of at least 10 Mbit/s is required.
  • Between 6 and 10 Mbit/s, the program is transmitted in 720p resolution.
  • If the bandwidth is even lower, but above 2 Mbit/s, you get a picture in SD quality.
For most German households, these requirements are no problem. However, the number of devices that communicate with the Internet in total must be considered. Thus, a 16-Mbit connection is theoretically effortlessly sufficient for 1080p, but if other devices in the household claim bandwidth (such as for online gaming or video calls), it may well be tight.
