OpenOffice: Start page number from specific page

OpenOffice is one of the most popular text editing programs along with Word. For many documents, it is common for the page number to be displayed at the bottom of the page. However, it may be that this should only start after a few pages - for example, only after the table of contents and the cover page.

This is how OpenOffice displays the page number starting from a certain page

To make the page number in OpenOffice start only from a certain page, a few steps are necessary.
  1. Open a new document and press the F11 key. Now select "Page template" > "Default" > "New..." in the window that opened.
  2. Give the template a name and create it by clicking "OK".
  3. To make the page numbering start only from a certain page, insert the footnote only from this page.
  4. To do this, click in the page that comes before the home page and select in the menu above "Insert" > "Manual pagination".
  5. Under "Template" now set your prepared template and confirm the option with "OK".
  6. After that, click on "Insert" > "Footer" and select your template.
  7. Now click on the footer to get into the settings. Click "Insert" in the menu bar again, but this time click "Other".
  8. Now select "Page" > "Page Number" > "Arabic" under "Field Commands" and then enter a -2 in the correction field. Confirm the process by clicking "Insert".
