Sync only very specific folders with Dropbox

Dropbox is a file-sharing service that lets you upload files to a cloud and share them with others on demand. There is an option to synchronize only certain folders with folders on your PC. To do this, you need to change something in the settings.

How to sync only specific folders with Dropbox

If you sync only specific folders and not all folders with Dropbox, only from these folders the content will be uploaded or updated on your linked computer. To use this feature for specific folders, proceed as follows:
  1. Download the desktop application of Dopbox and install it on your PC.
  2. Start the application by double-clicking the shortcut after installation.
  3. In the window, now click on the small gear icon in the upper right corner.
  4. Then go on to "Advanced" and then "Selective synchronization".
  5. If you do not want to synchronize certain folders, you can remove the check mark for them.
  6. Finally, click on the button that says "Update" and confirm the change request with "OK".
  7. The folders are now deleted from your PC, but not from your Dropbox.
If you want to delete the online folders, then open Dropbox best in the browser and remove the folders manually. To do this, click on the small box next to the folders on the left to highlight them and then on the right menu on delete. You can also restore deleted files.
