Xbox Series X/S Controller: Using battery power - the options

When it comes to powering the controller, Xbox takes a different approach than PlayStation. This continues in the new generation. Read what options are available regarding the battery on the Xbox Series X/S controller.

Wireless controllers have been standard for years, as they are much more convenient. However, you must always remember the battery level.

Xbox Series X/S: These battery options are available

Basically, you have two options:

• The easiest way is two normal AA batteries, which you simply insert. For a long runtime, for example, these batteries with 2,600 mAh are advisable.
• However, charging the batteries is not possible via cable directly on the controller, but only externally with a charger.
• It is more convenient with the special battery pack for the Xbox Series X/S controller.
• You do not have to remove this for charging, but can charge it via cable on the controller. This means you can even continue playing while the battery is being charged if necessary.

The options are thus exactly the same as for the Xbox One controller - so nothing changes for experienced gamers.
