Parrying is a skill that is often underestimated, but it can make a big difference in the battles of Valheim. We explain how it works and what to always watch out for.

With a shield it can be blocked well, that's no secret - of parrying, however, can not necessarily be the speech.

Valheim: Parry depends on timing

For the right parry, you should know this info:

• Parrying is a block that is activated only at the last moment before the opponent's attack.
• So it depends on the right timing - and that is rewarded when it succeeds. Because after a parry, the opponent stumbles for a short time. This is his cover wide open and you can do with an attack additional damage.

• The blocking and parrying is not only possible with shields, but also with all weapons. However, because of the higher block values, shields are much more effective.

Specially in combat against tougher opponents, proper parrying is thus worth a lot, as it buys you time and gives you the opportunity to dish out significantly more damage without using up more stamina. It's therefore definitely worth practicing timing on easy opponents until you've mastered it reliably.
