Valheim: How to get the pickaxe - tips and info

Of all the tools you can fall back on in Valheim, the pickaxe is without question one of the most important. Our guide explains how to get the pickaxe in the survival hit.

The pickaxe is indispensable in Valheim after a certain point, as it is needed for several tasks. In addition to the effective mining of stones from boulders and metal ores, terraforming is also possible with it.

Valheim: Pickaxe currently only available after boss fight

You can get a pickaxe in the following way:

• The simplest variant is the pickaxe made of wood and stone. However, this is not yet available in the game. Once this changes, the tool will be available very early in the game, as you can collect the materials directly.
• Until then, however, more effort is needed. The currently first manufacturable pickaxe requires, in addition to wood namely the antlers of the first boss. This is Eikthyr, the great stag in the grasslands.

To have a good chance against Eikthyr, it is advisable to equip your character with leather armor and increase health via food.
