WoW: How does a DKP system work? We clarify
The DKP acronym has been firmly linked to World of Warcraft since its beginnings. Because of the success of WoW Classic, it has recently come back into focus more. We explain what's behind it.
DKP stands for "Dragon Kill Points." This is a kind of points account that each participant in a raid has.WoW: That's why DKP systems have always been important
The exact design remains an individual matter of the raid organization. However, the system behind it always serves the same purpose:- DKP are a practical tool for loot distribution after a boss has been defeated.
- The points are namely intended to ensure fair treatment. Since each player only has a certain number of DKP available, the available loot is limited.
- Each player can always decide for themselves on which loot item they want to spend DKP. For example, it is possible to pass on certain items to have all the more points available later.
- If several players bid on an item, it comes to auction-like auctions.
- New DKP is usually available for participation in further raids. This means that those who participate more often also have better chances of loot - this is basically seen as a fair approach.
- Conflicts in the distribution should thus be prevented, even if even the DKP system is not a hundred percent guarantee.
