No Man's Sky: What are the crossplay options?

No Man's Sky was released in 2016 for the PlayStation 4, shortly after for PC and two years later for Xbox One. However, cross-platform play was not yet possible at the time. Has that changed in the meantime?

Full support: crossplay is now possible between all platforms.

Crossplay is fortunately becoming more and more standard. And the more world-famous hits follow suit, the more pressure there is on upcoming titles to support the feature as well. In this respect, the development of No Man's Sky is particularly important.

No Man's Sky: Crossplay unrestricted since mid-2020

The decisive day for the multiplayer aspect of No Man's Sky was June 11, 2020:

• Because on that day, crossplay was introduced.
• This affected all platforms, i.e. PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
• The cross-platform crossplay applies both to self-created multiplayer sessions as well as to play with foreign players you encounter in the Nexus, for example.
• You can see whether a player is on the same platform as you or not by means of an icon. If it is a foreign platform, however, you do not see exactly which one it is.

A cross-save feature, on the other hand, does not exist. That's because No Man's Sky has to be purchased separately for each platform.
