Pokémon is now such a well-known brand that nearly every generation can relate to the term. But when exactly was Pokémon invented and how did it all begin? Pokémon has been known to most since the mid-90s, but developer studio GAME FREAK began development even earlier.

Already on February 27, 1996, the first two editions Pokémon Green and Red were released for the Gameboy. Then on October 15, the special version Pokémon Blue was released.- In Germany, the green edition was not known for a long time. The reason for this is the problem of translating the texts for the German market, as a result of which the games were redeveloped and launched on the basis of Pokémon Blue as Pokémon Red and Blue.
- On April 6, 2001, the successors to the series, Pokémon Gold and Silver appeared. The special version Pokémon Crystal appeared on November 1, 2001.
- Followed by the third generation with Pokémon Sapphire and Ruby on the Gameboy Advance on July 25, 2003.
- The fourth generation editions appeared on July 27, 2007 under the names Diamond and Pearl.
- Die fünfte Generation erschien erst am 4. März 2011 und die sechste Generation am 12. Oktober 2013.
