How to reset your Apple ID

Because Apple places great emphasis on account security, there are three methods you can use to reset your password.
  1. Go to the Apple ID website.
  2. Click "Forgot your Apple ID or password?" below the login box.
  3. On the next page, enter your Apple ID. This is the email address you provided when you created the ID.
  4. To reset the Apple ID password, you have three options: Answer the security questions, authenticate via email, or via two-step confirmation, but you must have set it up first.
  5. Select the preferred method, and then set a new password.

Reset Apple ID: Other recovery options

As another option, you can also reset your Apple ID from the Settings app on your iPhone or iPad. To do this, open the Settings app on your device, tap on your name and navigate to "Password & Security" > "Change Password". Then follow the further instructions to set a new password.
